Bars with great food!

Tap House
1472 Market St
Des Plaines, IL

Tap House has an amazing beer collection. That being said, I don't like to drink alcohol while I eat.

Aside from that there's a great food selection.

I've gotten grilled cheese, the mushroom press, and the BLT. My favorite was probably the BLT, but I think that's just what I like to eat lately. Plus, tater tots are an option. Woo!

It's open somewhat late... if you're out past 1 am, the next place is a better option.

Five Grilled Cheese (Sorry for the blurry picture, but look how huge it is!)

Tater Tots and Tomato Basil dipping sauce
Whiskey River
702 River Rd
Mt Prospect, IL 60056

Whiskey River, formally Dick's River Road House, has revamped their style: a country theme with a wider selection of food, but still about the same as the old 4 am bar we know and love.

We were in an American "comfort food" mood, and this place hit it out of the park.

The Beer Can Chicken was unbelievably tender, and the ribs were pretty decent. Let me tell you, you must get mashed potatoes. They were so buttery and creamy. The cornbread is pretty yummy, also.

This is the only place that I know of around here where you get to drink out of mason jars.

Beware the mannequin in the Ladies' Room. It is thoroughly creepy, even the second time you go in.

Also, we decided that the real name of the bar is Whiskey Dick's. NSFW :-P

Hope you check these places out and enjoy them as much as I did!

Later, Lovelies!

I don't know what it is...

I don't know what it is, but I just don't find the time to be consistent with this blog!

Meant to update about a friend's birthday/dinner party.

What a marvelous time that was!

It being Game of Thrones themed, we made mulled wine, honey biscuits, and Bowls of Brown.

Bowls of Brown
Not as appetizing as it looks... But BETTER! And as an added bonus, horribly easy.

Recipes can be found in A Feast of Ice & Fire.

We've already made Breakfast at Winterfell. If you're going to start off, the breakfasts are a good place to start, but if you really need momentum, go with the Bowls of Brown.

I definitely want to get into cooking more... seems like the most productive hobby/life skill I could have.

I'll have to try to remember to take pictures if I do anything.

I also want to get into YouTube videos. I kind of prefer the blogging medium because I feel like videos just breeds tons of equipment I may never really use... Not to mention editing! Nonetheless, I feel like an empties post is in the near future.

Have a good night, Lovelies!

Hello, blogosphere.

Hi, Lovelies!

It's been a while again hasn't it?

Well, I've come to the realization that maybe I'm not as lazy as I think. I think I'm making excuses for depression: subconscious sugar coating.

Everything's been ok! Copious amounts of sleep and neverending fatigue were the symptoms. Lots of food and YouTube pulled me through. Now, it appears I have a hypo mania, which I intend on enjoying responsibly.

I have to say that even with a physical depression my outlook was only dulled not made hopeless. I still had a life, I just think there was a gray film over it for a bit.

And I am medicated. Everything is manageable. Here's to being manageable in the future.

The confusing thing about depression is that I feel like there is/was a standard definition of it. After listening to the Mental Illness Happy Hour podcast and other reading I've done, I've learned that there are widely varying symptoms, as well as widely varying coping mechanisms. Even the symptoms can be bi-polar!! Insomnia can be a symptom, not just sleeping too much. (I'm not sure if I'm just a night hawk or I would get insomnia, sleep, then only want to stay sleeping. -it's probably both.)

Can you tell I'm manic?
